Well, allergy season is upon us and in the last few days several patients wanted to know:
How to differentiate between Coronavirus or Allergies?
Is Sneezing a Common Coronavirus Symptom?
Are My Red Eyes Allergies or Coronavirus?
Can You Have Allergies and Coronavirus?

I have listed a few guidelines and helpful hints:

The main warning signs of COVID-19 are fever, and a dry cough.

Other symptoms include:

  • Cold-like symptoms like a runny nose
  • Trouble breathing
  • Body aches
  • Very sore throat
  • Fatigue that comes on quickly
  • Gastrointestinal problems like nausea or diarrhea

Allergy symptoms happen partly because of a local inflammation in the sinuses and upper respiratory tract due to your body reacting to things like pollen or mold.

Common signs of allergies include:

  • Runny nose
  • Dry, tickly cough
  • Itchy or watery eyes
  • Congestion
  • If you typically get allergies around this time of the year, watch for symptoms that are different from what you’ve had before.

Is Sneezing a Common Coronavirus Symptom?
Only about 1% to 3% of people with COVID-19 will have pinkeye. If you notice that your eyes are red, the odds are that it’s not because of the coronavirus.

Can You Have Allergies and Coronavirus?
You can have allergies and a viral infection at the same time.

How to Treat Allergies During a Pandemic?
The first thing to do is to stay away from whatever makes your symptoms flare up.
Use of sinus rinses such as saltwater sprays and/or a Neti pot can several times a day help keeping the nasal passages rinsed and flush allergens away, thus reducing the exposure of your sinus membranes to the allergen.

We also have a great supplement at the office that is primarily designed to help with colds, but it works very well for allergies as it is formulated to reduce mucous membrane swelling.

Chiropractic adjustments to loosen up the neck and improve the lymphatic drainage to the head and neck have helped many of our patients during this time to find relief.

Please let us know if we can be of help.
